Local circuit
The hemp sector is deeply rooted locally and relies on two essential elements for its development: an industrial defibering facility (hemp processor) and farmers motivated to grow hemp to supply this facility. Farmers are on average within a 50 km radius around the processor. The development of hemp and its production areas therefore requires multiplying processors across territories. InterChanvre supports project leaders with very diverse profiles.

Develop
markets

Hemp is a plant with multiple uses, offering numerous untapped potentials that make it a considerable source of innovation. To enable industry players to explore these opportunities, InterChanvre conducts studies, analyzes data, and produces thematic reports. These resources can be used by hemp processors to demonstrate the superiority of hemp-derived materials and food products. The interprofession also develops tools to help economic actors expand their markets.

Our
actions
InterChanvre structures its actions around four major missions and works actively to unite industry players and defend their interests, as well as to promote and encourage hemp development among different audiences.
Unite

InterChanvre unites all hemp farmers and industrialists in France, structuring the sector around a strategy and vision shared by all stakeholders. The association also supports local dynamics.

Defend

With its field experience and relationships with public authorities, InterChanvre represents the sector to technical, economic, and political bodies. The interprofession defends producers' and processors' rights, and exerts influence to support hemp development by promoting its cultivation and processing specificities.

Foster

To add value for producers and the sector, InterChanvre invests in research and development (R&D): technical methods, nutritional studies, market research, and international economic intelligence. The goal is to develop high-value markets to better compensate farmers.

Promote

Hemp cultivation meets current societal and environmental expectations and deserves better recognition. To highlight hemp's qualities and potential, the interprofession develops an influence strategy targeting political decision-makers and implements a communication plan aimed at agricultural, industrial, and general public audiences.

Environmental
services payment
Facing the challenge of increasing hemp cultivation areas to meet market demands, the sector has committed to developing concrete solutions to increase farmers' income. Hemp cultivation offers numerous environmental benefits, including CO2 absorption, water resource preservation, and biodiversity protection. The Hemp PES contract is an innovative initiative that compensates farmers for these ecological services.

the PES contract

For companies invested in social and environmental initiatives and wishing to strengthen their involvement, InterChanvre offers the Hemp PES contract. This contract allows hemp producers to be compensated for the many services they provide to the environment.
